SILCA Super Secret Chain lube was originally created as a mission to concoct the zippiest Hot-Melt wax lube possible over a year ago. Josh has been advocating the use of Hot Melt Wax and guiding Pro cyclists and triathletes in waxing their chains for ages, and he wanted to bring his magical formula to our patrons. The hurdle was how to consistently melt, dip, and agitate the chain using various crockpot designs and temperatures. The project veered off into the realm of IndyCar when Josh met a crew that had concocted a way to infuse teeny-tiny wax powders into a solution that dries quick and forms an imperceptible coating just like hot melt dipping. The blend of air-drying liquid wax and Tungsten Disulfide was promptly found to surpass all known hot melt waxes in friction testing, while also being much more efficient and speedy to apply.
What temperature can I apply Super Secret Chain Coating? 41 - 95 °F / 5-35 °C
What temperature is the best for storing the Super Secret Chain Coating? 41 - 86 °F / 5-30 °C
Keeping Super Secret under 41 F can result in the product freezing and being damaged.
Please note: Field tests have determined that prolonged exposure to below-freezing temperatures, can cause viscosity breakdown to the Super Secret Chain Lube. The coating will become quite thick. It is OK to apply to the chain as the functionality is still viable. In extreme cases, it may be necessary to clear the cap with a needle.
