Consignment Program
Have Cyclepath sell your bike!
Selling a used bike can be a challenging process. After receiving numerous inquiries from customers seeking assistance in reselling their bikes, we started our consignment program!
We are now certified by the City of Portland to sell used bikes and verify all bikes with the Police database.
How it Works:
We will accept road, gravel, or mountain bikes that are representative of the quality of bikes we typically sell. The bicycle must be in good working condition and require minor service or repairs to make the bike sale-ready.
All bikes will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
We do NOT accept the following bikes at this time:
- Bikes with dented frames
- Bikes with carbon fiber repair
- Bikes with aftermarket paint
- Any bike we deem in unsuitable condition for re-sale
We reserve the right to reject any bike.
Consignment Process:
- Bike is presented, Cyclepath staff will determine if it's a good fit for our store
- If the bike is a good fit, we will propose a sale price range
- If this price range is approved, the bike will be brought it for a $40 non-refundable assessment
- Service department assesses the bike and creates a quote for needed parts/labor to get the bike sale-ready
- If the quote is approved, the service is done within our standard service schedule (timing dependent on current service load)
- If the quote is denied, the customer can pick up the bike and pay the $40 assessment fee
- After the work is completed, the bike is listed for sale on the floor and our website
- If the bike sells at Cyclepath: the consignee get 75% off the sale as store credit or 65% as a check, minus the cost of any repairs needed to be done
- If the bike sells elsewhere (by consignee), the consignee doesn't wish to continue, or if the bike has had little interest, the bike can be picked up and the $40 assessment fee plus any parts/labor done as a part of the assessment will be paid
The intake fee and necessary service work is done to ensure the bike matches Cyclepath's standard level of quality when sold. Doing so creates trust with the buyer, raises potential sale price and minimizes issues post-sale. We do this to stand by every bike we sell, whether new or pre-owned.
